Living Room Redesign

We’ve been living in our townhouse for a little over 3 years now and just recently decided to start “decorating” our humble home. Why did it take us this long? Well, we simply just couldn’t make up our minds! And because we didn’t have a whole lot of money left to splurge on designer sofas and overpriced picture frames after our crazy wedding last year. So now that life has settled, making our home a little bit more cozy became a higher priority.

Everything is still in progress, but our living room is starting to come together. I love simple, minimal design and tried to keep those values in line with the decor I chose. We also did a couple DIY items (thanks to my bro) to save some money and they turned out beautiful! Furniture really doesn’t have to cost a lot to be pretty!

Little Ghent

The city of Gent is one of the most charming, old world cities I have ever visited. I especially love the beautiful architecture, the skinny cobbled side streets and the smell of freshly made liege waffles.

My husband was fortunate enough to grow up in this lovely city and laughs every time I’m in awe finding castles in the middle of “downtown.” I grew up in Vancouver, where there is certainly no ancient buildings to be found. The most picturesque architecture can be found at the Graslei. It is one of my favourite streets in the city and you can see why. It’s like Disneyland here!

The Big 30!

If you asked me a few months ago how I wanted to celebrate my 30th birthday, I would have said “definitely a huge, all-out birthday bash!” In reality, however, it turned out to be a very low-key event, the complete opposite of what I planned, but subconsciously what I preferred! Don’t get me wrong, it was still full of all my favourite things: a beautiful cake, balloons galore and a pretty dress! But these days, I’m finding my preference for a nice night in, binge watching Breaking Bad (which I never watched when it aired on TV) trumps greatly over anything else!

Finally, the vacation we’ve been waiting for all year long! Our Hawaiimoon! We arrived really late/early this morning (around 2am) and pretty much just slept right away. The drive from the airport to the hotel was in pure darkness (there were no street lights), so we didn’t really know what was around us until we saw this view on our way to breakfast:
